Metacognition

This forum ended at the end of last week, but I didn’t get everything posted that I wanted to. This is short video on What is Metacognition? 3 Key Points to Remember. This video explains metacognition as “the awareness and the control of one’s own cognitive processes, the ability of the mind to extend back and watch it’s self in action and able to examine how we learn, remember and how we think.” The ability to choose how we learn and how we do it as well. Metacognition is the ability to determine “the what and the why”, to provide analogies, analyze and apply new information. It’s the thinking about the thinking and how to become active learners. Metacognition is a higher level of thinking.
